Tips To Make Eyes Look Brighter

2 Tips To Make Eyes Look Brighter

Make Eyes Look Brighter

Sometimes the rims of a woman’s eyes get red, as well as the whites of her eye. Not mine, just a friends or two… or a few hundred.

Sometimes a woman, of course not me, needs to brighten up her eyes.

Again, not me.

But if my eyes ever need a bit brightening up, I use Urban Decay’s ‘Walk Of Shame’, definitely NOT me, to line my lower rim of my eyes, also known as the waterline.

This beige colored liner would be really great for women whose lids tend to get pink with getting older and wiser.

Another easy and no cost tip to making your eyes brighter, is to wear colors that bring out the color of your pupils, and do not make your whites look red or yellow.

Try comparing a few colors and see which perk you up and which make you look well, un-perky. Yup, I just made up a word.

Want to know what colors and sale of clothes you should and could be wearing? If yes please…then take a look at my personal and virtual services and start making YOU and your image matter.

Are You That Girl?

Recently a new client wanted my suggestions for what she should do to get the best outcome for her upcoming headshot session. She was very unhappy with how the photos came out in her previous session, and did not want to use those photos.

MakeUp Tips For Your Eyes

I created multiples outfits for her to choose from for the upcoming session, but offered tips for her makeup as well.

Eyebrows

Eyebrows are often forgotten, and it is no wonder as they slowly disappear from our faces as we get older.

Take a look at how faint Marlo Thomas’s brows are in the now, compared to her before photo. If she were to emphasize her brows a bit, she would look dramatically better.

You don’t want to be That Girl, as in the pictures above.

Frame your face, by filling in your brows. Take an angled brush and lightly dip it into an eyeshadow that is a shade lighter than your brow color and dab it along your brows. You can use a pencil instead of eyeshadow, but be very light with your application.

Try it, you may like it!

I started using a product called Rapid Brow, as I am always experimenting for YOU, and I can happily report that it works.

Here are before and after pics from their website, as I did not think of taking a before shot of mine.

Having fuller eyes either naturally or with makeup, will take years off your appearance and frame your beautiful eyes.

new wardrobe
“I had an upcoming conference with NO time nor desire to shop for a new wardrobe. I called Scarlett after reading her blog for many months and she saved the day. She came, spent a few hours with me going through my closet and helped me create a series of perfect outfits. The best part, at the conference a colleague complimented me and told me what I was wearing was a great look. Funny thing was, I had everything in my closet all along but had never added the boots, scarf and earrings”.-Cathi Nelson President l APPO

“I began working with wardrobe stylist Scarlett in the Spring of 2013. The first thing she did was to take me shopping in my wardrobe. I can tell you this was the last thing I wanted to do. However, it was fun and I was thrilled to see that Scarlett could come up with 30 “new” outfits! We then went shopping because I needed some special outfits for events that I had coming up. I asked Scarlett to design an outfit around a pin that my mother-in-law had given me. She did it. I was thrilled with the outfits she chose. I was even happier that I did not need to spend a fortune on them and even happier that each time I wear them, I get a compliment.” Kathy McShane

Beauty Survival Guide for When You lose Power

We lose power a lot. I mean a lot!

And although not an immediate priority when you don’t have electricity, heat or perhaps even water, a woman eventually has to get ready for the outside world by being able to apply and remove her makeup in the dark.

After all when we need to escape to a place that has internet, heat, and warm food it makes us feel a whole lot better to not look we are a contestant on the show Survivor.

Here’s what you should have according to my beauty survival guide for the next time, and there will be a next time, the power goes out.

1. A travel size battery operated magnifying light up mirror. This is great for applying makeup and contact lenses. I got mine at Bed Bath & Beyond.

2. A facial cleanser that does not require water. I am a big fan of Cetaphil, available at drugstores, as it is a gentle cleanser and really great for your skin.

3. A non-alcoholic toner to use to clean your face and remove excess makeup.

4. Lots of Purell type non-water instant hand sanitizer cleanser, but do not use it on your face, as it is too harsh for facial skin.

Finally, patience, a sense of humor, chocolate, wine, and a really good friend or relative who has a generator will help you get thru another frustrating dark and inconvenient experience.

Pssst…Overheard In The Dressing Room

“Thank you, Scarlett, for a wonderful morning. It was like a birthday party for me, truly acheiving more than I expected. It was a fantastic experience, and if you knew me better, you would know what a supurlative complement that is, because I rarely rate any experience that high.” —I.B., Somers N.Y.

False Advertising Is The Real Fake News.

fasle advertising

Fake lashes, fake ads, and fake before & Afters get me angry for real.

Finally, there is an article about one of my biggest pet peeves: False Advertising, in the cosmetic and fashion industries.

Have you ever noticed that the ads for mascara featuring gorgeous women with thick and full luscious lashes were false? Seriously false, as in false eyelashes.

This false advertising tries to tell us that we too can have lashes like the models, but if they need fake eyelashes to show us how effective the mascara is, then clearly the mascara is not able to produce what we see in the print ad or on a TV commercial.

This New York Times article: Mascara Ads: Thick Lashes, Fine Print highlights the false eyelash false advertising for mascaras, and that those days might legally have to end.

All of this trying to pull the wool over our fake eyelash free eyes, reminds me of a post I wrote, Why Can’t I Look Like That? awhile back about how women’s bodies are manipulated and altered to look ‘perfect’ for ads, features and magazine covers.

We need to speak up and say, we’re not going to accept false advertising and other attempts to make women feel inadequate and falsely unattractive.

Are you with me?

“Thank you so much for the fabulous wardrobe session. I had so much fun working with   you to review my closet collection and look at colors and outfits in a whole new light! I am amazed at how many outfits I have just waiting for me to wear! Can’t wait for our upcoming shopping day.”—Colleen Ashe  Ashe Organizing Solutions, Ltd

How Women Over 40 Over See Themselves

Women Over 40

Women Over 40 Looking too close at herself

Stephen Dimmick is a fabulous NY and LA-based makeup artist, whom I discovered on Twitter. I especially enjoyed a post he once wrote, where he asks women to stop looking at themselves so closely in the mirror.
Stephen is correct, and so charming when explaining that nobody sees what you see in your closeup. I find this particularly helpful for women over 40 who start to focus too much on the little things, instead of the ‘big picture’.

Some women have become so self-conscious, that they actually are visiting plastic surgeons to find out how they can look better on Skype and FaceTime! No kidding, so please, let’s end this madness. If needed, use a magnification mirror for plucking, eyeliner and mascara application only and not for self-critiquing.

If your clothes and makeup are flattering, your perceived and actual flaws will disappear.

My tips:

Dark shadows under your eyes? Try wearing a different color.

Lines looking deep on your face? Try a different fabric.

There are many ways to look great without magnification and plastic surgery manipulation, and my clients use them every day as they now know what works best on them.

“Wardrobe Stylist Scarlett is a pleasure to work with. She’s professional, knowledgeable, and fun! I loved playing dress-up with her guidance. She arrived with a bag of tricks, ready to work in my closet to prune, create, tweak, and suggest wardrobe additions. By the time she left, I had a small pile of clothes to donate, an understanding of my most flattering styles, many outfit options, and a shopping list for wardrobe enhancements. She followed-up by emailing the photos she took of all the outfits we had created (accessories and all), which will make getting dressed and packing for trips much simpler. Don’t even question whether or not to hire her. Just do it! Wardrobe Stylist Scarlett has a great eye, is creative, understands clothing and different body types, and is really fun to work with. You will come away with clarity and confidence.”
